CAPTION: Selina collects water from a stream near the village of Mawoneke. While this water is understood by its users to be safe to drink owing to the proximity to its source, it tastes brackish and is widely disliked. Villagers tend to have to travel far with heavy buckets in order to bring water for household and agricultural use. The Bindagombe Irrigation Scheme will provide them with more borehole water access points, considerably reducing travel time and the corresponding effort that must be expended. LOCATION: Mawoneke Village, Chivi District, Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe. INDIVIDUAL(S) PHOTOGRAPHED: Tavonga Chinheva (left) and Selina Chiwaka (right).
